Couldn't put it down!

Haven - Mary Lindsey

Wowsa! This is one of those books that you need to clear your schedule for. If you don’t, you’ll find yourself running late getting your kids ready for school, or running late getting ready for work, or telling yourself “one more chapter” at bed time. It was intense.

This book has a group of characters that really make the book. Their relationships, or lack thereof, really grab you as the reader. Their relationships were very sincere, and very real. The way that the author had the characters interact, no matter what characters, or what part of the book, made it feel like I was watching them in real life and could interact at any moment.

Details and descriptions were perfect. They made the scenes flow flawlessly. It was so easy to picture what was going on and there was never a question as to what was going on.

There were some twists and turns and there were definitely several sit on the edge of your seat moments. I might have picked on my nails a bit as I was reading. This was just really a very well written intense book! I would definitely recommend this story!

Perfection

Lyrics Heart & Soul - Anne Marie Citro

This was such a heartwarming, swoon worthy story! It’s bad boy meets innocent angel. It’s perfect. I LOVED the story.

So, I’m not going to lie, the male lead, drove me absolutely bonkers! There were many times I wanted to just smack him across the head. His attitude at the beginning was horrendous and I really wondered if he was going to be able to be helped. I was pleasantly surprised the female lead really whipped him into shape. It might have taken a while for it to happen but when it does you hear the heavens open and angels sing, haha!

The overall vibe of the story was absolutely heartwarming. There was negativity that was swarming the characters at times, but the goodness that comes out of the work that the male lead is forced to do will give you goosebumps. It’s like an “ahha” moment when he realizes that these are people too and they deserve to be treated as people and nothing but normal.

Details and descriptions were chilling at times. My heart broke for these characters and my heart sung for these characters. I had all sorts of feels during my time reading this story. It was such a well written, overall positive story, that you just can’t pass it up! I recommend grabbing a copy immediately.

Intriguing

Touched by Death - T.L. Martin

Wow! This was a very intriguing, interesting, heartfelt read! It’s one of those stories that you won’t want to put down once you start it! It’s full of adventure, learning, loving, and living.

I was really surprised with the more that I read. The story line was something new to me. It wasn’t a concept I had read about before, but it was written in kind of a logical way. A way that seemed very realistic and a way that made you go “Hmmm..,” and I loved it!

There was really a great cast of characters. The lead and supporting characters all made the story great. Their relationships, or lack there for, were something to remember. The more you read, the more you’ll fall in love with these characters and the more your heart will break for them. Trust me – you can’t help but fall in love with them the more you read.

This story was suspenseful, in its own way.  I can’t say that it was full of action, but the way that the author wrote the scenes, really keeps your mind reeling, twisting, turning, and coming up empty handed at times.  It wasn’t until I was much closer to the end of the book did things really start falling into place and started making all the light bulbs go off.  It was fun trying to keep up and keep guessing with what was actually going on.

This is a story I would read again.  It was such a really heartfelt story and an intriguing story line. I enjoyed every minutes of it and would suggest to anyone to give it a shot. I think you would enjoy it!

Incredible

A Love Restrained - Becky Flade

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

When I read this blurb, it instantly grabbed my attention. A bad boy, a cop, and a history of romance; how could I not read it? Well, I was very pleasantly surprised I enjoyed it even more than I anticipated!

These two characters were fun to read. They have an intense chemistry that she tries to fight. It’s obvious they are both attracted to one another but there is a history that weighs between the two. It’s intense at times, comical at others, and downright heartbreaking as well.

The author does a great job writing each scene. It’s detailed out leaving no guessing what is going on. Descriptions were on par to keep ones attention. It made it very easy to visualize the scenery and action.

This was, overall, a very good book. There was action, there was love, there was some serious chemistry, and there was love. It was a deep down unquestionable love that took a while to fully show up. I would definitely recommend reading this book. It was an incredible read!

What a wild ride

The Secrets Between Us - Jennifer Ann
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

What a crazy, messed up, incredible story. The story line was intense, brutal, fun, reminiscent, and fun to read. When I say intense, I mean sitting up straighter, tearing at your nails, gripping your kindle a little harder; whatever you too as you get sucked into a story!

This was a great read. It was an attention grabber and holder. I really did enjoy reading the story. Details and descriptions were great, sometimes a little too intense (you’ll understand when you read the story). Really though, it just made the book a little bit better.

The characters were a bunch of intense characters. Main characters to supporting characters, they were just as important as one another during different parts of the story. At times they held larger rolls and other times their role was minimal. The book wouldn’t have been the same without each and every one, bad or good.

Like I said above, I really enjoyed reading this story. It held my attention, made me want to keep reading, made me want to be late so I could keep reading, but there was something missing. I don’t know what it was. Maybe there were a few spots that didn’t hold up to the greatness of the rest of the story. Maybe the storyline drug just a bit.  It wasn’t anything major but was enough that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. However, I would still re-read this story and would definitely recommend it to you.

Surprisingly Good read

Stronger - Janet Nissenson
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I’m really torn on this book. I want to tell you to definitely read the book but part of be is reserved about that. It’s one of those book that is a good book but also has some negative qualities. Let’s see if I can figure out how I really feel by the end of this review.

First, overall, as a story, it was a good story. The plot was well written and the characters were well developed – for as much as the author wanted them to be. Details and descriptions were on par with a well written story. I applaud the author on all of the technical aspects of the book.

Here is where things get a little fuzzy or hazy to me. First, and you’ll find this one my review on number five, I don’t believe these books should be listed as stand alone. They are all about each individual characters, but there always seems to be a little back story that’s missing. Since I read book 5 I thought maybe that I would be a little bit more well versed into the story. This book was easier to read having some back story, but I still think it would be easier to read all the prior books.

Secondly was the way that the author chose to write the female lead character. I understand the point was for her to overcome her issues and growing as a person, I appreciate that. However, I don’t like the way that the character was “grossly overweight” because she needed to lose 20 pounds. I think that part of the story could have been written a little bit differently.  Maybe I took it a little bit more personal because I’ve battled weight my entire life and maybe other readers won’t. Maybe it will help someone that is struggling but maybe it will push another person struggling that much deeper. I think it’s important to note that the character succeeded in doing what she felt she needed to do to overcome her problems. I also feel I need to note that the author deserves to write the story based on how the characters speak to her. The character was very real and had very real issues of her own that she had to deal with. So I applaud for the way the author made the character very real.

I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out just why I didn’t really enjoy this book. I think it was more personal issues and I didn’t appreciate the way the author chose to handle/tackle the issues the character had. I don’t think the author deserves a bad review or negative criticism for that – so I tried very hard to be sure my rating didn’t lose any points just for that. Since there were some issues with the way the story was written for it to be a stand alone, that’s why I gave it a 4 star. While I can’t recommend this story to you, it was a well written story and the author did a good job.

Lovely Read

True Identity - Amanda Mackey

The blurb of this book just grabbed me. It sounded SO good and SO interesting. I was hooked before I even cracked open thebook.

Let me say, once I started reading, the actual book didn’t disappoint. It was a GREAT read. It is full of twist and turns anddetails that leave you hanging. The characters make you love them and sink their hooks into you.

Details and descriptions were out of this world. They just enhance the greatness of this story. The way that the author writes this story, and these scenes, is chilling at times. It’s intense and maybe a bit frustrating at times. It leaves you NEEDING more. It’s absolute perfection.

I loved, loved, loved this story. It was a great read. I can’t wait for book two though, I need it now.

Decent Read

Destiny Awaits - Jaidis Shaw
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This was a good read. It had a decent plot and decent details. The blurb was definitely attention grabbing.

This story line was good but had the ability to be great. As this is the authors first story I think it could use a little bit more. A little more detail and a little more oomph. It wasn’t a “bad” read, it was a good read, but it didn’t hold my attention like I had hoped.

The characters were okay, nothing fantastic and they weren’t extremely developed. They seemed quite simple, which is okay, but I prefer more detail, more depth, and more developed.

I think the author has the ability to get there and write an incredible story. Her idea is great and again, the blurb was amazing. The story just didn’t lack the ability to grab my attention and hold it. I think just a little more attention to detail and descriptions and development on the character side would have made this an excellent story.

Surprising Incredible Read

Sweet Dreams, Baby - Bev Katz Rosenbaum, Nora LeDuc, Patti Roberts

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Well, I love me a good suspense, thriller, romance filled story. This book had it all!

The overall premise of the story seemed intriguing and had me interested. Once I started reading the story, I was absolutely blown away. The story was incredible. It was full of twists and turns and was chilling at times. It had a sweet little romance side of the story as well. It was a well rounded, well written, incredible read.

Details and descriptions were impeccable. They made it easy to hold my attention and made it easy to not put the story down – I read it in one sitting. The characters were really well developed and had great chemistry. Their relationships with each other and others were fun at times, serious at others, and were attention grabbers.

I really, really enjoyed this story. It really made me sit straighter at times, made me gasp, made me think, and kept me guessing. This was an incredible read and one I would definitely recommend reading.

Okay book

Wheeler - Sara Butler Zalesky

This was a decent enough book. The story line was good and the blurb promised a great read.

Details and descriptions, in my opinion, were lacking at times. At other times, they were perfect. It seemed to be hit or miss throughout the story. It made fully understand what was going on difficult while reading the story.

The characters were interesting. There was some, what I feel, was insta-love, Or if not install-love than some really cheesy interactions between the two main characters. At first, I thought their exchanges were kind of cute but then it continued and it god old, pretty fast.

So overall, it was a decent story. The author wrote a good story line but with the missing details and descriptions at times and the characters interactions not jiving with me, it isn’t my favorite story. It may be the type of story that you, future reader, likes so please take my review with a grain of salt, as this simply could just be personal opinion.

Love Me By Christmas - Jaci Burton

I just loved this book so very, very much! It’s a sweet romance story but also a Christmas story, a guilty pleasure of mine.Christmas stories in general will grab my attention but the romance portion of the story probably grabbed my attention first.

It’s a quick read. It’s short, sweet, and to the point. It’s well written and has great descriptions and details. The emotions are heavy and very well detailed. The story line is tragic, frustrating, hopeful, and romantic.

I really enjoyed all of the characters in this story, main characters and supporting characters. Not one character seemed to be more important than another and they all had great chemistry. They were fun to read about.

I would read this story again, and would recommend this. I would have loved for a longer story to maybe get more detail or have the story expanded a bit. It was such a great read.

Hated - Christine Manzari

This was an exceptional read! The characters were fun and real, the plot was intriguing, and the emotions were off the charts! This book was absolutely incredible and I enjoyed every single minute of it!

I would call this book beautifully tragic! Some of the flashbacks were incredibly heart breaking. They felt incredibly real which made it feel like the knife was twisted a little further! That being said, the funny, the charming, and romantic parts of the story were equally as good and left me in chills at times.

Details and descriptions made the book even more realistic. They made the characters seem realistic and made the scenes seem real. They made moments in the book just downright hilarious and made others heart meltingly sweet. They really just added that extra touch to make the book that much better.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I would agree that it can be read as a standalone. I’ve not read any of the other book but at no point was I confused about something in the past. I would read this story again and would recommend it to you as well!

Captured Memories - Katherine McIntyre

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibraian – I Dig Good Books

This story was short, sweet, and to the point. It was a cute romance that allows you to escape the real world for a bit. The characters are sassy and fun. The story is realistic and the details were great. I enjoyed this quick little read.

I will say as I was reading this story, I felt like I just knew the story was going to come up short. I felt like there was going to be missing details and / or descriptions. It was a fast-paced story, a little more than a novella, but as I was reading, I just had this feeling I was going to come up short, missing details or missing a history or future. I am very happy to report I was wrong. The author did a great job providing just enough detail to keep the story flowing, keep the picture scrolling, but not overwhelm you, as the reader. I was very pleasantly pleased with the story writing and boy was I wrong!

There are some heavy emotions in this book. There is a history, there is a present, and there is a future. The history is dark and damaging. It is like walking on broken, shards of glass. The present is walking on a smooth floor with the wounds from the glass covered floor, slow but for sure they are healing.  The future is walking on a smooth floor with nothing but a few scars. Those scars will never allow the past to be forgotten but allows the present to be bearable and to know the future will be better.

The characters were enjoyable. They were the types of people I could befriend in real life. They are the types of people you want to have in your corner. They made the story that much better.

If you’re curious, yes of course, I would recommend this story to you. It won’t take a lot of time to read it but you’ll be happy you did!

Betting on Cinderella - Petie McCarty

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibraian – I Dig Good Books

This was a cute story. It was a feel good, fast paced read. It is one of those stories that you read after reading an emotionally heavy story.

The details and descriptions on this story were good. They kep the story flowing and kept the understanding there. They made the visualization easy. They didn’t make my mind have to work too hard to understand what’s going on.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was written well and the story line was cute. It was generic in a sense but I don’t mean anything derogatory about that. It’s nice to have those types of reads every now and again.

That being said, there was nothing that wowed me or made the story over the top. I can’t say there was anything specifically “made” me want to keep reading or any particular part of the story that dug its claws deep into me not allowing me to put down the story.

I would recommend this book to you just as a story to read and enjoy without much thought. It’s an escape story and will allow your mind to do as such. I think you’ll enjoy the read!

Okay story..

Lottie Loves - Samie Sands

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I really wanted to love this book. I wanted it to be one that I could rave about to you and beg you to read. The blurb sounded so incredible, it had my attention and made me want to read it.

As I cleared my scheduled and started reading the story, I was perplexed. At times, the story was excellent. It held my attention, grasped its claws into me, and made me keep reading. At other times, it felt forced reading. It left my attention wondering, its claws were slipping, and left me confused. I felt like I went back and forth during the entire story.

Having a read like this is incredibly frustrating. It’s not frustrating because the author did a bad job writing the story, or frustrating because the story was lacking, it’s frustrating because it’s hard to fully explain in writing why I was struggling so much, so bare with me as I try to explain.

As I sit here and write this review and think in my head, I think there are two biggest reasons that the story wasn’t “great” all the way through; over writing and lack of description or explanation. I know, these two seem to make no sense together, right? Let me explain. I think, at times, the author went in a little deep with her writing, her explanations, and back story. I think some of it wasn’t necessary. However, the way that this story is written, you get “back stories” or history of the main character and her childhood sweetheart. However, you don’t get a warning when it is the flashback, you just kind of have to know. Certain times, it’s glaringly obvious but other times it’s not so obvious and required me to go back and re-read a little bit to realize I was reading a flashback. I think maybe had these been labeled a little bit better, it might have helped my mind prepare a little bit and not have so much confusion.

So, overall, it wasn’t a bad read. The main female character has some serious inner turmoil and is forced to make a pretty intense decision. She had, what I would consider, an unhealthy first love, and her heart doesn’t want to let go. It’s intense and heart breaking. I can recommend to read the story, just prepare yourself for flashbacks and know if it doesn’t seem like current times, it’s probably a flash back. Maybe the author will choose to edit her story a bit to make it more clear. If not, it’s still a good story.

Great detail!

Collateral Risk - Gwenan Haines

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This was a great read! It kept me on my toes, kept me reading, held my attention, and kept me guessing.

It wasn’t until nearing the last quarter of the story that I was able to make a good guess who the “bad guy” was. I made a guess and was wrong and had to read a little bit more to find out for sure who it was. The author did a great job writing twists and turns to keep you guessing and keep the story interesting.

The details and descriptions really were what made this story such a good story. It made certain parts of the story feel more important, and made the characters pop. On the flip side, there was a lack of detail during certain parts of the story that simply kept you reading, instead of giving it away too early. The details the author put into the bird scene were one of my favorite. I know that’s a really vague statement, but you’ll understand once you read the book.

The romance part of the story was sweet and deserved. The two characters were two very loving people whole felt they couldn’t give themselves to anyone else in that manner due to their past. They were meant to be, meant to heal one another, and meant to protect one another as well.

If you like thrilling, suspenseful stories then I’d absolutely recommend this story. I really enjoyed reading it.
